Sr Buyer Planner

Job Description: Analyze customer demand and sales forecast to develop a production plan. Level load production schedules initiating batch orders while taking into consideration materials availability, customer demand, lead times, and capacity.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and perform master scheduling activities for assigned product lines
- Prioritize and manage the production schedule for all assigned products and orders
- Manage weekly production updates and reporting to sales team
- Plan and schedule materials to support inventory policies, WIP, and demand requirements. Requisition, order, and track all purchased materials as required
- Expedite items/supplies as necessary to meet company demands
- Interface with various functional areas, such as production, validation, QA, QC shipping, accounting, etc. in order to resolve any supply, quality or logistic problems associated with purchased items
- Monitor and report on production fulfillment of scheduled demand. Lead or participate in operations production meetings
- Communicate potential delivery problems and last minute scheduling changes as a result of backlogs, design changes and material or labor shortages to planning manager and customer service
- Manage the BOM activities that affect supply chain management for items needed for engineering projects and prototype products
- Participate in and contribute towards process improvement initiatives and goals
- Support planning manager in defining and implementing policies, procedures and processes
- Act as primary back-up in absence of planning manager
- Assist in other areas to support the supply chain and operations process as assigned
- Follow all company safety policies and Quality Assurance requirements
- Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required
- Extended hours may be required to fulfill the requirements of this position
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
- APICS preferred
- Minimum five years related planning experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of two years in a team or project leadership role
- Strong working knowledge of MRP and production scheduling practices
- Advanced personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Good communication skills; written, oral and inter-personal
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
- Ability to work independently and employ effective time management skills
- Strong emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong emphasis on organizational skills
